Why Animation?
At Mamala Media, we know that music is a scientifically proven method to remember something in a deep and lasting way. That’s why our songs at Mamala Media are called Lifetime Scripture Songs. This method for memorization is especially effective when music and information are introduced during early childhood development. So of course we’re overjoyed, knowing that children who listen to the Sweet Dreams and Wonderfully Made scripture songs are learning lyrics from God’s Word for a lifetime!
“Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older they will not leave it.”
Proverbs 22:6 NLT
When co-writing the songs with my son Jonathan Byram, we embraced this truth with our music, particularly when writing the lyrics. Our passion to build children’s identities on the foundation of God’s unconditional love led the way. The heartwarming testimonials we receive on a regular basis from parents, grandparents, teachers and homeschoolers, provide wonderful assurance that our goal is being realized. As the owner of Mamala Media, this makes me very happy! 😊
After releasing our music, it became clear that screen time for children was skewing younger and younger. Now, even time in the car is spent on tablets instead of listening to music. This trend is a concern in many ways. As a mother and grandmother, I believe whole-heartedly that screen time should be both limited and monitored. So aside from knocking on doors and showing up in every household as the “Screen Time Police”, I asked myself, “how can I effectively address this issue and bring deeper value to the screen time experience for young children?”
“Every picture tells a story.”

As a lifetime student of story telling, I am well versed in the significance of a well-told story. My first performance in live theater was in 6th grade performing the lead role for the school play. It was a fascinating original take on the Cinderella tale that shed light on a cruel cultural practice of the time. Very progressive for a sixth grade play! I was amazed when the play and theme became a point of discussion for weeks afterward. And believe it or not, it was recently brought up again when I re-connected with a childhood friend! That early experience showed me the lasting impact of a well-crafted visual story.
A story can be the catalyst for change if it moves us.
The solution was clear. The Lifetime Scripture Songs provided the musical content complete with impactful messaging. Why not create stories around the biblical messaging of the songs with engaging visuals for kids?
Animation was just the ticket.
I engaged a young, up and coming animator as well as a seasoned professional who works for Disney and DreamWorks. Together, we were off and running. The first six TreasureToons animated videos were completed in one year and are now available for download at mamalamedia.com as well as being recently launched for streaming on Christian Cinema.
Now you know the story of TreasureToons Animated Videos! May they provide cherished times for you and your child that you will “treasure” for a lifetime!
“Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.”
